JNF UK & THE KKL CHARITABLE TRUST JOIN IN EXCEPTIONAL RESOLUTION TO RECENT DISPUTE

Agreement is reached to create a new post of Chairman for JNF UK.

London, 30th January 2008 JNF UK and The KKL Charitable Trust have today announced the creation of the new post of Chairman of JNF UK. Samuel Hayek, the recently appointed chairman of The KKL Charitable Trust will assume the role of Chairman of JNF UK as this new post will pave the way for a remarkable and unprecedented settlement of the recent dispute between the two organisations.

The JNF UK board will be joined by Samuel Hayek and a number of new trustees. The intention is that the new Board will be given full authority to negotiate a final settlement of all outstanding issues with KKL both in the UK and in Israel

The recently formed KKL Charitable Trust will continue its activities until a final settlement is reached, resulting in the expertise and outreach work of both organisations being channelled together to build on the successes achieved so far, continuing to raise money for KKL projects and identified charitable projects in Israel.

The proposed agreement would see JNF UK play its full part once again under the umbrella of the world KKL family.

Gail Seal, President of JNF UK, commented: “There could not have been a more positive and peaceful resolution to this issue. Samuel Hayek as our new Chairman provides us with an opportunity to utilise his leadership and expertise to develop JNF UK into an even more strengthened brand focused on committing funds and resources into charitable projects in Israel. This will help to cement our position as the leading Israel charity in the UK.”

New Chairman of the Board of JNF UK, Samuel Hayek commented: “JNF UK has achieved great things during the period of Gail Seal’s presidency and I am delighted that my appointment opens a new positive chapter in the relationship between JNF UK and KKL in Israel. I am looking forward to working with Gail and the new Board to drive the organisation onto greater heights, with JNF UK re-engaged with the KKL agenda and dedicated to promoting the key objectives of JNF UK and Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael- supporting Israel for life.”
