Aleh

Aleh is a non-profit Israeli organisation which believes that every child, regardless of the severity of their physical or cognitive disability, has the right to benefit from the best available care and to develop to his or her fullest potential.

Aleh’s first home was established in 1982. Today, approximately 650 severely disabled Jewish children are receiving top quality medical, educational and rehabilitative care at Aleh branches in Jerusalem, Bnei Barak, Gedera and the Negev.

When completed, Aleh Negev will offer young adults with physical and mental disabilities a warm and loving home where they will receive high-level medical and rehabilitative care and vocational training. Its goal is to help these young people develop a greater degree of independence and become productive members of Israeli society.

The 25-acre village, located in the Negev in Israel’s southern region, is the only centre of its kind in Israel. It will also provide outpatient services to a special needs community of over 12,000 and generate hundreds of jobs for the local residents.

JNF UK has committed to support Aleh Negev with £1,000,000 over 4 years. Our Gala Dinner in 2006 with General Colin Powell and the Jerusalem-Israel Car Rally of that year are examples of the events that JNF UK is organising to raise money for Aleh Negev.
