Lord Sacks Forest

The elevation to the peerage of the Chief Rabbi is both a recognition
of his personal contribution to the spiritual and intellectual life of
the country and an honour for the whole Jewish community.
JNF is delighted
to celebrate this occasion by planting a wonderful new forest of 25,000 trees in
Jerusalem. Lord and Lady Sacks planted the first trees in a moving ceremony at sunset on 16 June 2010.
Situated in the Jerusalem
mountains, the new Lord Sacks Forest lies in a prime location in the Aminadav
Forest, near Yad Kennedy and close to the Emek Re'fayim Park.
This forest
will provide a permanent tribute to Lord Sacks, as well as a lasting contribution
to the beauty and environment of Israel and Jerusalem in particular. As
with all tree-planting, it will also help in the efforts to forestall climate
change.
Trees cost from £10 each and can be bought using the form below. If you are in Israel during the summer and would like to visit the forest and plant a tree yourself, please contact us to arrange this.
The name of every
donor who subscribed prior to the dedication ceremony was inscribed in a special megilla, a copy of which
will be presented to the Chief Rabbi.
"There is no honour we have
received or could receive that is greater than to have a forest dedicated in
our name in the place that the Jewish nation calls home."
- Chief
Rabbi, Lord Sacks
