JNF UK Volunteers at Nahal Oz

JNF UK volunteers have been hard at work at Kibbutz Nahal Oz.

Nahal Oz, sited within a mile of the Gaza border, was repeatedly a target for terrorism during Operation Protective Edge. The upheaval caused by the war led to a number of families leaving the community.

Facing crisis, the kibbutz was forced to reinvent itself in order to survive. Among other projects the Nahal has established a co-educational mechina – or leadership programme – offering students aged 17-18 the opportunity to study Judaism and Jewish history. Studies are designed to encourage students to take pride in their Jewish and Israeli identities.

JNF UK is assisting the community by building dormitories, kitchens, offices and classrooms to accommodate an influx of new students.
