JNF UK held its fourth annual Kosher Komedy Night in Highgate on Sunday. A sell-out crowd was entertained by MC Mark Maier, prop comic George Egg and Simon Schatzberger – appearing in character as Woody Allen.
JNF UK’s Kosher Komedy returns for a fourth hilarious year
Musical entertainment was provided by Darius Thompson and Oshan Mahony of international music collective The Turbans.
Tracy Lee, event organiser, told the audience: “Charlie Chaplin said that a day without laughter is a day wasted – laughter is such an important part of life, and so it seemed appropriate to me to choose comedy as a medium of entertainment.”
The acts:
Star of the recent BBC 2 sitcom ‘Boy Meets Girl’, MC Mark Maier has appeared in a string of successful radio shows and has performed at comedy clubs worldwide.
George Egg has been performing stand-up for two decades now, and has worked as a support act for Jack Dee, Micky Flanagan and Lee Mack.
Actor Simon Schatzberger has appeared in a host of television, radio and stage roles, including parts in Band of Brothers and Black Books. A fan of Woody Allen since he first saw Annie Hall, Schatzberger’s tribute to his hero recently concluded a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival.
The Turbans are an international musical collective, blending traditional near-eastern and eastern-European sounds. Members hail from Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel, Iran, Italy, Greece and England; and have performed in the UK, Turkey, India and Europe.
