Manchester Club raises £6,000 for JNF UK projects

Founded in 1987, The Sam Herwald Club in Manchester is one of the JNF’s longest standing clubs. At a special event last month, the club presented visiting staff from the JNF’s HQ with a cheque for £6,000. This will go towards JNF’s projects in the south of Israel.

Run by senior citizens, the club meets every Wednesday and has raised over £100,000 for Israel over the last 30 years. The regular meetings have featured a wide range of speakers.

During the event, David Goodman, Director of Community Relations for JNF UK, spoke about the past, present and future of Israel. Members also learned about the KKL Legacy department from Carolyn Addleman, Director of Legacies. The local press attended as well as high profile members of the Jewish Community in Manchester.

The event was a huge success and a true testament to the enormous importance of continuing to volunteer throughout retirement years. Through its hard work, dedication and generous fundraising, the club has helped ensure the future of Israel.
