To mark Yom Yerushalayim, JNF UK took a group of teenagers on Young Mizrachi’s Israel Trip to meet some of Israel’s 21st century pioneers. The special trip was organised to celebrate 50 years since the reunification of Jerusalem.
The group met HaShomer HaChadash on Moshav Amatzia in south-central Israel. Established in 2007, HaShomer HaChadash, is a grassroots organisation helping farmers and ranchers in the Negev and the Galilee safeguard and work the land.
Starting out with 40 volunteers at its foundation, HaShomer HaChadash has grown to become a force many thousands strong. The organisation could not have achieved this success without JNF UK, who has been supporting them since 2011. Today, we assist with running costs so that it can maintain a presence in remote areas. After hearing first-hand about the importance of HaShomer HaChadash’s work and taking part in manual volunteering work, participants left feeling inspired and connected to the land of Israel.
