Planting trees in Israel is a time-honoured tradition and the perfect way to mark any special occasion and forge a lasting connection with Israel.

For over 120 years, we have planted over 240 million trees, creating entire eco-systems in the desert, and Israel has become one of the few countries in the world to grow trees for over 100 years.

URBAN FORESTATION

Our tree planting Urban Forestation programme offers you the exciting opportunity to plant mature trees (three or four-year-old saplings) in Negev towns and cities including; Yerucham, Kiryat Malachi, Mitzpe Ramon, Bnei Dekalim, Be’er Sheva, Kiryat Gat and the Carmit Community Village.

Urban Forest projects provide an abundance of environmental and educational benefits. They help purify the air, beautify an area and provide much needed shade and shelter from the sweltering desert sun across public pathways, parks and schools. Each urban forest project is unique and often involves more than just planting.

*The cost to plant a tree in an Urban Forest varies from location to location. In some instances as well as the cost of purchasing the tree itself, our Urban Forest projects may involve other components such as installing irrigation systems, labour, complex groundwork, and other project overheads. Therefore, each tree donation might cover the tree and/or other project components.

There are various factors that dictate what is the best time to plant mature trees. Therefore this varies from project to project – in some cases, donations cover trees that are already planted and at other times, trees that will be planted in the future. During a Shmita year, where planting is forbidden, JNF UK plants trees in advance so that we can facilitate our supporters to continue to order tree certificates during this time.
