Israel Under Attack

We are devastated by the tragic events that are unfolding in our beloved homeland. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people of Israel, especially the men, women, children and babies directly impacted by the unprecedented and heinous acts of terror.

For decades, JNF UK has worked tirelessly to develop the Negev, building and strengthening communities living there. We have become intimately acquainted with them. Their schools are our schools, their homes are our homes, and their families are our families.

Tragically many of those who we have supported have suffered unimaginable loss, lives have been shattered and homes have been destroyed.

JNF UK with our dedicated team on the ground, is working 24/7 with the organisations we partner with to provide all possible support to the people of Israel. We are reaching out directly to the most affected communities to assess what they need right now and will continue to do all that we can to provide them with assistance. And, as the needs of the people of Israel change, JNF UK promises to be there every step of the way, rebuilding shattered communities so they are stronger than ever.

OUR IMMEDIATE RESPONSE INCLUDES:

PROVIDING EMERGENCY FUNDS TO RESCUED FAMILIES

We are speaking with leaders from the communities on the Gaza border who were  attacked. Survivors were evacuated with nothing but clothes on their backs and need immediate assistance.

So far, we have transferred almost 200,000 NIS to 18 Kibbutzim and Moshavim, including: Kerem Shalom, Nir Yitzchak, Holit, Sufa, Magen, Nir Oz, Nirim, Ein HaShlosha, Kisufim, Reim, Alumim, Nahal Oz, Mefalsim, Nir Am, Erez, Karmia and Netiv HaAsarav, and Kfar Aza with many more requests coming through.

supporting vulnerable holocaust survivors

HOW ELSE WE ARE DISTRIBUTING URGENT FUNDS:

Together with our partner The Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel, we are ensuring thousands of survivors know they are not alone, and that none go without essential needs.

We are providing them with emergency kits including torches, batteries, transistor radios, first aid kits, warm blankets and other equipment to enable them to sit in bomb shelters for days. We are also distributing urgent food baskets as many are unable get out to buy groceries.

RESTORING THOUSANDS OF DISUSED SHELTERS TO ENSURE EVERYONE HAS A SAFE PLACE TO HIDE

Growing tension on the Northern border led us to initiate Operation Ir Miklat (City of Refuge) together with one of our partner organisations, Osim Shchuna, to clear, clean and fix bomb shelters in apartment buildings, in Israel’s northern towns.

We aim to restore thousands of unusable shelters with the help of tens of thousands of volunteers in a very short time, so they can be used to protect the people living in the north from rocket attacks. JNF UK has already co-ordinated and funded the clearing of 600 shelters in Nof Hagalil, Nesher, Tzfat, Nahariya, Haifa, with many more planned for the days ahead. In parallel we continue to support the same programme in the south where thousands of bomb shelters have already been restored, saving countless lives.
