JNF UK is Building Yerucham

JNF UK IS BUILDING YERUCHAM

The Negev in Israel’s South is underdeveloped and is in need of urgent investment. It is our generation’s responsibility to continue building our Jewish State. With your help and support JNF UK is excited to be developing and strengthening Yerucham, one of the Negev towns.

Yerucham, a development town 20 miles south east of Be’er Sheva, has a population of about 10,000. Historically the town has suffered from high levels of unemployment and there is a distinct lack of essential infrastructure.

In order to help improve the lives of the residents and to make Yerucham a more attractive place to settle, JNF UK is working on a number of projects with the town’s dynamic Mayor, Michael Biton and other innovative organisations.

SOME OF OUR PROJECTS IN YERUCHAM ARE:

20160905_103247BUILDING AN EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTRE

Many Yerucham mothers could not go back to work because of prohibitive child care costs. To tackle this problem, JNF UK built The Anita and Ralph Harris Day Care Centre which offers subsidised childcare. This is helping to break the cycle of poverty by getting mothers back into employment. The Centre also offers various therapies, including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, drama and art therapy and various cognitive development therapies.

JNF UK is renovating and expanding the existing music conservatory in Yerucham. The conservatory, like other public buildings in the town, is no longer up to the job, and is too small to meet current demand. The renovation will include soundproofing six rehearsal rooms, upgrading the concert hall and installing new technical equipment. A new wing will comprise five additional rehearsal rooms. Soon, every child in Yerucham will be able to receive music lessons.

Among the many renovation projects in the town is the improvement and establishment of 10 public gardens within the old neighbourhoods of Yerucham. By improving already existing public gardens, and where necessary creating new ones, we will ensure the existence of green open spaces, recreation facilities and a playground in each neighbourhood.

These are just some of the projects JNF UK is supporting in Yerucham. Please show your support for the town’s 2,700 families who depend on your donation to build a better future for themselves and the state of Israel. Thank you for your generosity.
