Restoring Bomb Shelters in the North – Saving Lives

TENS OF THOUSANDS OF RESIDENTS IN THE NORTH OF ISRAEL LACK ACCESS TO COMMUNAL SHELTERS - THEY NEED YOUR HELP TODAY!

The North is already under attack but right now, thousands of our most vulnerable citizens, including the elderly, Holocaust survivors, women and children, low-income families, and those in the most underprivileged areas of Israel are terrified in their homes without a protective space. They have no apartment safe rooms, and their communal shelters are unusable from years of neglect.

As the war becomes increasingly volatile and dangerous for those in the North of Israel, cleaning and restoring communal shelters is a matter of life and death.

HELP US TO SAVE LIVES

Together with one of our partner organisations, Osim Shchuna, JNF UK has initiated Operation Ir Miklat (City of Refuge) to clear, clean and fix bomb shelters in apartment buildings, in Israel’s northern towns.

Shelters and safe rooms are critical to protect families from both the dangers of being hit by missiles and the arrival of armed terrorists on their doorsteps, sent to murder innocent Jews.

With your support we aim to restore thousands of unusable shelters with the help of tens of thousands of volunteers in a very short time – We are working against the clock, and every single hour counts.

Each shelter costs around 4,000 NIS to restore and there are thousands that are in desperate need of attention.

Over the next week, our mission is to raise 4 million NIS, and gather 3,500 volunteers to restore 4,000 shelters. This will provide a protective space for up to 120,000 of our brothers and sisters in the North of Israel.

JNF UK has already co-ordinated and funded the clearing of dozens of shelters in Nof Hagalil, Nesher, Tzfat, Nahariya and Haifa, with many more planned for the days ahead.

During the last major conflict in 2021, over 8 days, Osim Shchuna and JNF UK gathered 2,000 volunteers across 6 cities, and restored 600 shelters in Ashdod, Be’er Sheva, Petach Tikva, Rishon Lezion and Bat Yam. At one point, a rocket fell in Ashdod, and tenants were protected in a shelter that had been restored just minutes beforehand.

As a direct result of this work, 20,000 families in the South now have a protective space to shelter them from the horrors of this war.

NOW WE MUST SUPPORT THE PEOPLE IN THE NORTH TOO.
